As we enjoy the season of candy and costumes, a few simple steps can keep tails wagging safely:

🐾 Skip the human candy. Chocolate, xylitol, and many artificial sweeteners are toxic to dogs — even in small amounts.

šŸ¬ Check all treats — even dog treats — before giving them.

Just like you’d inspect a child’s candy before they eat it, look closely at anything someone gives your dog.

Make sure the package is sealed and clearly labeled.

Avoid anything homemade unless you know exactly what’s in it.

Look for signs of tampering, strange smells, or unknown ingredients. If in doubt — throw it out. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

šŸŽƒ Buy from trusted brands that list simple, recognizable ingredients. Pumpkin purĆ©e, oats, and peanut butter (without xylitol) make great bases for healthy Halloween snacks.

šŸ•Æļø Watch the decorations. Keep cords, candles, and glow sticks out of reach — curious pups can’t resist a glowing toy.

šŸ‘» Dress with comfort in mind. If your dog wears a costume, be sure it fits well, allows easy movement, and avoids tight elastics or dangling parts.

šŸ” Create a calm space. Doorbells and visitors can be stressful; a quiet room with toys, water, and a cozy bed can help them relax.
